Week 5- Midsommar and mission presidents!
This week was actually super fun! First and foremost, I met my new mission presidents! The Lakes are the sweetest! I actually am so excited to get to know them better and serve with them. President Lake talks so passionately about Sweden and I can tell him and I will get along great.
The second thing that happened this week that was so cool was Midsommar. Midsommar is a holiday celebrated in Europe but I think primarily the scandinavian countries, which includes Sweden! It is on the summer solstice and includes lots of traditional food and fun! Our teachers taught us some of the fun traditions they picked up in Sweden. These include flower crowns, dancing around the maypole and fun songs they sing. It was a blast! I can’t wait to celebrate it in Sweden!
Next thing that was super cool was that because this week was training for the new mission presidents, there were lots of general authorities on MTC campus! I got to see a few of them but my favorite one was I got to see my Aunt Christine and Uncle Clark which was super cool. They were so sweet and gave me a bag of treats, they're the best!
On Monday, I went and played basketball and for those of you who don't know, sometimes I get kinda sick after I play if I like am dehydrated or push myself too hard. Anyways, I got sick and had to miss the afternoon class (my companions were quite upset) and we went to class on zoom instead. The point of me putting this in my email though is I think it's worth it to mention how cared for I felt when I felt sick. All of my district and my companions really did care for me, they offered me medicine, they tried to get food for me, they were just super sweet. One of my companions told me that it was like I had "nine moms" when I didn't feel well. They are the best:)
Before I end the email I want to thank all of you for your prayers and thoughts, I can feel them pushing me and propelling me forward. I feel so loved and I'm so grateful for all of you! I also miss all of you so feel free to reach out and keep in touch. Also if you could pray for my sweet parents, they send out their third missionary in two months so if you could please pray for them I would greatly appreciate it:)
The spiritual thought that I had this week is just how powerful the Book Of Mormon is. I keep reading Ether 12 and that whole chapter is so good.
Love- Äldste Calder
P.S- my twin sister Peyton got to the MTC today!! It was so good to see her and It's definitely a tender mercy that she's here with me. She's going to be a great missionary.
P.P.S- the video is me dunking on my teacher, brother Jensen. he did it to me first haha. He's a great teacher though.
