Whoop whoop Salt Lake City West

Hello everyone! It’s only been a few days since my last email but A LOT has happened since. First, I made it to Salt Lake! But I’ll get to that in a second. after i sent my last email I said goodbye to many people in my district that night. It was really sad because we had all grow so close over the past six weeks. If ur reading this I love you guys fr:) One thing that was really cool was that before we all left each other, the three of us Elders gave everyone blessings. this was a really cool experience for me. especially when i had the opportunity to give my two companions a blessing. I felt their Heavenly Fathers love for them and for me which was so cool.

anyway a lot of hard goodbyes followed that. The MTC was fun but I was ready to leave. I wasn’t ready to leave a lot of the people. At the top of that list is my twin sister Peyton who has been there for a couple weeks with me. It was super hard to say bye to her. Shes gonna be such a great missionary though! Germany and whatever other places she goes, are lucky to have her. I also said bye to my district and my companions. I love them all so much! I can’t wait to see them in Sweden.

Okay so Friday morning we woke up early and went to the travel office. It was kind of surreal to leave the MTC. It felt like I was jailbreaking. one of my goals with these emails is to be honest, so I was having a hard time while we were traveling. there were many odd people coming to the mission with me and i was terrified. I kept having a vision of my trainer being a crazy weirdo and I was so scared to meet him. Luckily I met an Elder named Elder Monfredi. I talked to him the whole time. He is such a good dude and I for real think God knew I needed him on that train ride haha. Hes gonna be a great missionary and we became such good friends super fast.

When we got to the train stop, the Spencers (my temporary Mission Presidents) were waiting. they are the best! they are really nice and I can tell we will get along well. We drove to the mission office and they put us through like six hours of training and it was rough haha. They then took us to the “This is the Place” monument. Its where Brigham Young told the saints that the Utah valley was where they should stop. It was kinda cool.

After all that we went and met our trainers. they had us line up across from each other and then President Spencer announced the companionships. Me and Elder Monfredi had a cool experience with prayer at this moment. we said a quick prayer that we would get the trainer that we needed, and we both felt the spirit strong. anyway I met my trainer! His name is Elder Cook. He’s not the crazy weirdo i was envisioning (thank goodness!). He’s from Canada and he’s been on his mission for almost eight months. He’s a really nice guy, we don’t have a lot in common and I’ve already noticed a few obnoxious habits, but it could have been so much worse! also in his defense, he had some big shoes to fill (shoutout Elder Christiansen and Sannemann).

Since then, they’ve put us right to work. they took me shopping (my first time ever shopping for myself so that was weird) and then we went out into our area. The AP’s challenged us to invite someone to be baptized our first night. Apparently thats super common, I’m not sure if that is a Utah mission thing or if everyone invites to be baptized so much. Unfortunately only one lady answered her door my first night and she was not interested so that was discouraging.

I could write a lot more but I think i’ll end it here. I’ve done a lot of door knocking already with little to no success, but one nice thing about being in Utah is that there are so many members around that people always invite us in for water or food and are super nice. Also everyone whos declined to meet with us has been super nice about it. there have been no mean experiences yet. Anyways, I’m excited to be here in Kearns Utah. I hope i can actually teach people and spread this wonderful gospel! please email me and keep in touch! I love you all.
