I'm a celebrity here in Utah
This week was so cool! First and foremost I used to always get kinda annoyed when I would read a missionaries email and all they talked about was the people they're teaching. But now I get it!! It's because you grow to love them and care about them and want them to accept the gospel. So ill try to refrain from doing that too often but no promises haha. Also to explain the title- people here LOVE missionaries. More about that later though.
Some highlights
-We were having trouble finding people to teach and this week we found 4! It was so cool and I'm grateful.
-I went on exchanges this week which is just basically when you switch companions for a day. It was so fun! I went with an Elder named Elder Taylor. He's a super dope dude and it was a blast to talk to him and learn from him. Of course the one day when it was raining all day was the day Elder Cook left our area and got a car haha.
-One of the kids we're teaching had a birthday party and it was cool. I definitely felt out of place being at a 10 year olds birthday party but he wanted us there and his grandpa grilled some ribs and chicken and it was SO GOOD.
-There was a party/ convention for Polynesian people in our area. We walked over to see it because we heard music and a whole bunch of people came up to us and dragged us in to get free food. At one point the guy on the stage said "you missionaries up there, come down here and get some free stuff" it was hilarious.
-That brings me to the biggest standout to me this past week and that is the members! People will pull over to the side of the road and give us food, water, money and won't take no for an answer. They'll pay for our food at restaurants, and give us rides all over the place while we still wait for our car to get out of the shop. People here are so giving and treat us so well! I feel so loved and need to soak it all up now because I doubt that I'll get much of this in Sweden.
-I played basketball with a kid that were teaching and it was a blast. Don't get it twisted though, no mercy was given.
-I had my first zone conference this week and it was good! Very long and kinda boring but it's okay. It was weird to hear the departing missionaries testimonies because that feels so insanely far away. I guess everyone had to start somewhere.
-Yesterday was my older brother Carstons birthday so I got to call him and talk to him. That was super cool.
-I buzzed my head
I can't believe I only have two P-Days after this until the end of the transfer. Crazy! What a fun but hard week. Love you all! I'd love to hear from you.
Hej då! -Äldste Calder
