"I guess we'll never know"
I AM IN SWEDEN. I freaking love it here. There are so many miracles I've seen since I've been here and so many that happened just on my way here. It's cool to see God's hand in everything. Due to a lot happening this week this email might be super long, or I might decide to cut it short idk yet.
Last few days in SLC
it was hard to say goodbye to all of the fantastic friends that I made. The night before we left we went around to a lot of the families and people that had impacted us. It was hard to say goodbye. I never thought I'd be sad to leave there lol but i was.
One miracle that happened in salt lake is that last Monday we were playing basketball, and some dude kinda trucked me. I fell pretty hard and he fell on top of me and all of our weight landed on my wrist. My wrist hurt super bad and I thought I'd broken it, but I didn't want to tell anyone about it just in case it would make me stay in salt lake. I said a prayer to Heavenly Father and my wrist has been getting better and it feels way better now.
Travel to Sweden
Okay so on Thursday we took a flight from Salt Lake to Paris. The problem is that the flight in salt lake got delayed by like 3 hours so because of that we missed our short connection in Paris. But the flight was cool, it was long but not as bad as I thought. We saw the northern lights out of the window of the plane so that was cool.
We had another 4 hour layover in Paris and it was brutal. We were all kind of dying from lack of sleep and French ppl weren't the nicest hahaha. But we finally made it on a plane to Stockholm! On the plane I sat by someone and I heard them speak some swedish. I sat down and tried to speak with them and I understood almost all of it! I got hyped. I started talking to her and realized she is not from Sweden and her swedish is just a tad above mine, so that is why I understood so much. But it's okay, she was super nice and we talked through the flight... until I fell asleep 😴.
SWEDEN
when we landed in Sweden my first thoughts were "why is it so dark already" and "why is it so cold already" . As I walked through the airport to the baggage claim though I got so fired up. It hit me that I'm finally in Sweden. I've been praying and praying and praying for this moment!
Our president picked us up from the airport and it was so nice to see him again. The Lake's are our mission presidents and I love them so much. They had to pick up three waves of missionaries and probably didn't get to sleep very much. We were taken to the mission home and it's so awesome! It is like a traditional swedish home and it's dope. We then had dinner, a tour of the Mission home, and our interviews with President Lake. After all of that they sent us to a hotel for the night.
Greenie pick up day
We walked to a church in Stockholm and met the trainers and I GOT TO SEE ÄLDSTE SANNEMANN. I flipped out when I saw him. Missed that dude fr. Anyway we then had lots of trainings and kinda boring stuff, then we found out our trainers. We all went around one by one reading off our area and trainer and my trainer sucks. JUST KIDDING ITS SANNEMANN. so many things had to happen for this to actually work out. When I was reassigned we joked about this and then last transfer I prayed for it every night. We're in the Sundsvall area in the Norrland zone. Which means we're up north. It's already super cold and supposed to be snowing soon I guess.
The first two days have been pretty cool here, I got to bear my testimony in swedish in church, and it was probably the worst swedish they had ever heard, but they were all so nice to me. I understand more than I thought I would, (I was expecting to understand zero lol) but I'm getting maybe 15 percent? Idk I haven't had a ton of interactions in swedish yet. Sweden is so pretty though! There are trees everywhere and lakes every which way. I'm hyped to be here. We taught someone a lesson but it was in English because he doesn't speak swedish. It was nice to be able to contribute in lessons because I have a sneaky suspicion that from now on I will struggle with that haha.
If you made it to the end I can explain the title of this email. Me and Elder Sannemann keep on saying that Kanye West clip where he wins an award and he says something like "people keep asking me what i would've done if I didn't win, I guess we'll never know" we keep saying this because it seems like we got a serious dub to be comps again. The only downside is that we don't have Elder Christiansen this time :(
