I was a Swiss dude for Halloween🫣
Our friend Andrii got baptized this week! It was a great week and that was definitely a highlight. His baptism was super cool, he only speaks Russian and English so I could actually understand because we all spoke English haha. Before his baptism, he struggled with some things just like everyone does. But one cool thing is he said that when he got the Holy Ghost, his desire to do some of that stuff just went away. Like he didn't have the temptation anymore. I thought that was cool.
Other things that happened
- we did a decent amount of street contacting this week which lead to some funny interactions. Lots of Swedish people are just anti-social. They all put in headphones and walk around with their heads down. So we we stop and talk to them they always seemed shocked. Often times when we try to stop people they just keep on walking and pretend like they can't hear us which for some reason I think is hilarious. We had a lot of good interactions this week too, one of them was this- we were walking and I saw a guy who looked like the last thing he wanted was for a couple missionaries to talk to him. We stopped him though and started speaking swedish, and he said that he was from the Netherlands and could speak English and he was here on vacation. This was already a miracle because I was able to contribute a lot more when we speak my language. We talked for a while and he told us all about his experiences with church and how he doesn't go anymore and then we were able to teach him a lot right there. We taught about the book of Mormon and it was super powerful to hear my companion testify and to also testify to this man that there is a living God who loves him! The spirit was super strong and we gave him the book of Mormon in English (another miracle that I had an English one because normally we have mostly swedish) and he said when he got back to the Netherlands he would reach out to the missionaries there. Super cool!
- I went on splits with Äldste Schulz and it was cool. He's been on his mission for around 15 months so he gave me some advice and helped my swedish.
- Halloween was pretty fun. Me and Äldste Sannemann switched tags for the day so that was my costume haha. We went to the candy store and got a whole bunch of candy to celebrate. It was definitely kinda sad not to be home.
- alla helgons dag- a day here where they light up all the Graves in the cemetery. It was pretty cool.
I'm sure more happened but I don't wanna write anymore 😛 I hope you guys have a great week!
